The Harrisburg School District will exit state control, or receivership, on June 18, after the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) decided to not petition the courts to keep the district under direct state control for another three years.
The move will be a big change for city schools, which were stripped of most of their local control in 2019 after years of financial struggles.
