While water rescues, evacuations and shelter operations continue in El Dorado, flooding threats are expected to continue downstream.

The Butler County Emergency Management Agency has stated that they’re expecting flooding problems to continue throughout the county, especially areas near Whitewater and Walnut Rivers. Over the next couple of days, the National Weather Service forecasts are predicting the rivers to crest in El Dorado overnight tonight and crests to follow in Augusta tomorrow night.

Those crests will continue downriver that could potentially affect Douglass.

Emergency officials are encouraging residents to prepare for rapidly changing and hazardous conditions now instead of waiting. More information about the floodplain in Butler County can be found at www.bucoks.com/GIS
