CLEARWATER, Fla. — A man whose body was body was found floating near the Clearwater Pass bridge has been identified after three decades.

An 84-year-old man was found dead in November 1993 near the east side of the bridge leading to Sand Key. A neatly folded pile of clothing was found on the shoreline near a lifeguard stand, but there was no identification among the clothing or on the body, according to a news release.

An autopsy came up as inconclusive for the cause of death, but foul play wasn't suspected.

Then more than 31 years later, Clearwater police detectives collaborated with the medical examiner's office and Moxxy, a forensics company, to try to identify the remains. Additional samples of the victim's DNA were submitted for testing, and several months of analysis led to various
