CHEYENNE – After listening to residents’ concerns about speeding, overweight trucks and other traffic issues, Sheriff Brian Kozak has established the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit, a news release said.

This new unit comprises three full-time deputies who will focus on enhancing enforcement in under-patrolled rural areas and locations identified as needing attention based on traffic and crash data analysis. These deputies are certified in crash dynamics and reconstruction, as well as drug recognition.

Kozak said in the release, “After over a year of planning, we’re proud to launch this traffic enforcement unit with the goal of making our roads safer. Our focus is on prevention and raising awareness to help reduce accidents and save lives.”
