MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - Democrat Billy E. Knight, Sr. has been reelected as the mayor of Moss Point.

Mayor Knight ran against Republican Richard McBride. Knight received 837 votes (93.2%), while McBride received 61 (6.8%).

“We made a lot of progress in these first three and a half years, and I’m asking the people of Moss Point to give me an opportunity to finish the job,” Mayor Knight told WLOX News prior to the election. “You just can’t get it all done in three years or four years, you gotta have a second term to finish the job.”

Knight’s campaign ran on issues like public safety and improving the image of Moss Point, which includes remodeling the city. The first step was the demolition of the recreation center, which Knight says will help to kick off downtown revitalization plans.
