FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —

A Foxborough police officer saved a family's day after they found a two-foot-long snake in their home on Tuesday.

The snake, wrapped up on a pole in the basement of the home, was waiting to surprise Morgan Lewis' mom.

"She saw a brown thing, wrapping around, she had to get a closer look, so she grabbed her glasses and realized it's actually a snake and not something else," Lewis said.

Lewis said her mom was unloading the laundry, and when she stood up, she saw the snake, just inches away.

"She was literally screaming bloody murder," Lewis said. "I wasn't here luckily, I would've been a lot worse, but she had to call 911 immediately."

The call was picked up by Foxborough police officer Ryan McGrath.

"'I'll go handle it, I'll go do it, don't worry about it,'" Lewis
