MARTINSBURG – Construction is largely complete on Berkeley County’s first battlefield park, Hoke’s Run, and it’s already being used by the community.

Located just off St. Andrews Drive in Spring Mills, the park officially opened this spring and stands on the site of one of the very first battlefields of the Civil War. Now, the 10-acre park is complete with a playground, a large pavilion, bathrooms and gravel trails.

The park’s creation and designation as a battlefield park was announced just under a year ago, shortly after construction had begun on the site. Still yet to be added is the planned interpretive signage that would tell the battlefield’s story.
