CANTON — Sometimes, it’s the little things.

Unfortunately for the Girard Indians, who made their first regional semifinals appearance in 39 years on Tuesday vs. Mentor Lake Catholic, the little things bit them in the end.

On an AJ Trobentor routine ground ball to second base, first baseman Zach Ward’s feet failed to find the bag in time, allowing Trobentor to reach base safely. The error, which came in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, resulted in the only run of the Division IV regional semifinal and consequently, the end of Girard’s historic season.
