IRONDALE, Ala. —
Tension over spending came to a head in Irondale on Tuesday night. It happened after she first accused the city of spending more than it has. She believes since 2020, Irondale’s long-term debt has nearly tripled.
During the meeting, the city council voted to censure Councilwoman Cindy Cuellar. That means it formally agreed to disapprove of the comments she made about the city and the way it’s being run. It also disagreed with her speaking to the media.
During the meeting, there was time for public comment. Much of that was focused on Cuellar’s claims. She said she’s not backing down on making sure the city is spending responsibly, while others gave overwhelming support to the city, saying her claims weren’t true.
