The regular season doesn’t mean much once the state tournament begins.
A perfect example of that came during district baseball tournaments last week.
None of the three Monroe County Region teams that kept their state-tournament dreams alive – Monroe, Ida and Summerfield – were league champions.
Two of them were under .500 a few weeks ago.
But all of them played their best baseball of the season to earn the right to play this week in regional tournaments that begin with semifinal games on Wednesday, June 4.
