GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - As of late Tuesday night, no official winner has been called in the race for Gulfport mayor. However, Republican candidate Hugh Keating is feeling confident about the results.
Josh Gregory with the Hugh Keating campaign told WLOX News Now, “He [Keating] feels confident in the position he’s in... Based on our projections and historical trends, we feel pretty confident right now.”
Gregory said the campaign’s own projection showed Keating up by 1,110 votes, but at that time, 1,400 absentee votes were uncounted. A few hundred affidavit ballots had not been counted either.
Keating did not give a victory speech Tuesday night, but addressed supporters gathered at Centennial Plaza, thanking them for their support and expressing his confidence in the outcome.
