ROCHESTER, Minn.- The Rochester City Council approved an $8 million investment from Destination Medical Center on Monday, June 3, to go towards a new $16 million facility from Biolabs in Two Discovery Square.
According to Michael Flynn, senior director of economic development at Destination Medical Center, the new campus would be a shared research space meant to act as a starting point for entrepreneurs in the medical industry to pursue research and development.
He says the goal for the space would be to provide lab space for 20-25 businesses at a time, giving renters access to equipment and networking opportunities with other tenants and community partners like the Mayo Clinic.
"For people who are looking to do work at a laboratory bench side, I think this represents a new opportunity
