HOUSTON (KIAH) – As the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season begins, CenterPoint Energy is highlighting major storm preparedness and resiliency upgrades completed ahead of June 1. The company urges customers across Greater Houston to create and practice an emergency plan now.

CenterPoint wrapped up a series of historic improvements under its Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, including: • Upgrading 26,000 storm-hardened poles • Installing 5,150 automated grid devices • Clearing vegetation from 6,000 miles of power lines • Moving over 400 miles of power lines underground • Deploying 100 new weather monitoring stations

The utility also completed a large-scale emergency response drill with local and state officials and installed backup generators at critical sites like medical cente
