Although it doesn’t include as many spending cuts as he’d like, U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran says the “Big Beautiful Bill” is a step toward promoting economic growth and reducing government spending.

The massive legislative package makes permanent the tax cuts implemented in 2017, increases funding for the military and border security and includes welfare reforms aimed at reducing federal spending.

While the bill cuts $1.6 trillion in mandatory government spending, it could raise the national deficit — the difference between government revenue and spending — by $3.8 trillion in the next decade , according to the Congressional Budget Office.
