TYLER — The East Texas Food Bank has launched its annual free summer food program to support families in the Longview area.
“One in four kids in the East Texas area is considered food insecure, so we know there's a lot of families out there that are struggling,” said Kim Morris, chief impact officer for the East Texas Food Bank.
The summer food program helps children across East Texas continue receiving nutritious breakfasts and lunches even after school ends, bridging the gap during the summer months. Covering 26 counties and 20,000 square miles, the East Texas Food Bank plans to provide 106,000 meals to more than 3,000 children this summer.
