NORTH STONINGTON - Sophia Gouveia scored 10 goals as eighth-seeded Wheeler had its season ended in overtime as No. 9 East Catholic came away with a 15-14 Class S second round victory.

Ava Gentes and Grace Cassata each scored two goals for the Lions (11-6). Anna Barber (8) and Selita Sebastian (1) combined on nine saves.

Gouveia, the Eastern Connecticut Conference Player of the Year, finished her high school career as one of only two players in ECC history to score over 300 goals.

The Eagles (11-7) advance to face top-seed Lauralton Hall on Friday in the quarterfinals.
