Jasper Economic Development Corporation President Danny Walker announced Tuesday that he will step down as president of the board of directors, but will continue to serve on the board if he is appointed June 9 by city council.

Walker told nine of the 17 board of directors present that some of them may be selected by city council members to stay on the board while others may not.

"This will probably be the last meeting with these members. Hopefully the council will appoint new directors," Walker said.

"There is a plan... The number of directors will not change because our bylaws say 17 directors. The city can only appoint according to the bylaws."

Walker opened the meeting up to questions from the audience after discussion of the agenda items.
