LOGAN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Recent layoffs at the Itmann Mine in Wyoming County may be just a part of broader coal industry job cuts across southern West Virginia, according to state filings and company notices.

Core Natural Resources recently issued more than 200 layoff notices to employees at its Itmann Mine, citing market conditions.

That notice was filed on May 12 and is expected to result in permanent workforce reductions.

Greenbrier Minerals also alerted the state on April 28 that it would be laying off 61 workers at a Logan County surface mine
