With promotions, injuries and the simple grind of a baseball season, things in the minor leagues can change quickly.

On May 3, the Hickory Crawdads played arguably their worst game of the season in a 10-0 loss at Columbia. The Crawdads had just three hits and committed five errors which led to eight unearned runs. Mercifully, the game was shortened to five innings due to rain. The loss extended the Crawdads losing streak to six straight.

Since that night, the Crawdads have gone 15-9, pushing ahead of the Fireflies in the standings. Hickory is now in third place, 2.5 games out of the top spot in the South Division.
