Get ready to enjoy some sweet Alabama peaches! The peach crop is now in season across the state.

When you think of Alabama peaches, you probably think of Chilton County, halfway between Montgomery and Birmingham in the center of the state. It’s known as one of the best spots for peach growers, supporting jobs from farming and harvesting to selling.

Chilton County earned its nickname, the “Peach Capital of Alabama,” back in the 1950s when the county was home to as many as 10,000 acres of peaches.
