NEW YORK (PIX11) – The NYPD's summer safety initiative appears to be yielding positive results.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch and Mayor Eric Adams touted a historic drop in crime while announcing plans to expand summer safety zones. While shootings and homicides are down in New York City, subway assaults are up nearly 20%, according to NYPD data.
