Police have arrested Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Deputy National Director of Operations, Bonface Kashololo, and charged him with three offences: disorderly conduct at a police station, common assault, and intimidation.

According to Northern Region Police Public Relations Officer, Maurice Chapola, the suspect will appear in court soon.

Chapola explained that the arrest follows a complaint lodged by a journalist who was allegedly assaulted while on duty at Mzuzu Police Station.

The incident occurred yesterday when Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) reporter Alex Mwangosi was reportedly harassed while covering the arrest of former Minister of Transport, Jappie Mhango, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
