CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Cincinnati Reds have signed veteran left-hander Wade Miley to a one-year major league contract, marking his return to the majors after a 14-month absence. He will take the place of Hunter Greene, who was put on the injured list.
Miley, 38, had recently opted out of a minor league deal with the organization, briefly becoming a free agent. His contract includes a prorated $2.5 million salary with an additional $1.5 million available through incentives, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com.
Greene goes on the 15-day injured list due to a groin strain. The 25-year-old was removed from his start after five innings on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers due to recurring tightness and will be sidelined for at least two weeks. Greene boasts a 2.72 ERA in 59 2/3 innings
