The investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance has continued through its second day, with further progress updates this afternoon.

German and Portugese police forced have been searching abandoned buildings near Praia Da Luz, Portugal this week with samples of potential evidence surrounding the case being taken s earlier today.

News of the latest search for Madeleine follows several investigations which have taken place over the years for the then three-year-old who went missing from her family's holiday apartment in the Algarve in 2007.

Throughout the day teams of investigators have been spotted using pickaxes, shovels and chainsaws to clear dense vegetation and dig near to derelict building.
