BIG SPRING, Texas -- A crash in Howard County on Tuesday resulted in the death of 85-year-old William F. Smith.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Smith was driving southbound on US 87 and slowed down to turn east onto Brian Road across the open intersection. Chelsey M. Yarbar, 38, was travelling northbound and struck Smith after he failed to yield for the right of way.

Smith was pronounced dead on the scene and Yarbar was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center with minor injuries.

This crash is still under investigation as of Wednesday and no further information is available at this time, according to the press release from DPS.
