When Sean Wilson moved his auto repair business to Beatties Ford Road some two years ago, he was attracted by the corridor’s business climate and rich Black history.

He says the move has paid off, but he also wishes more people in Charlotte were aware of the many small businesses that operate successfully in Historic West End.

“It’s us — it’s Black,” said Wilson, owner of Prince Wilson Auto Service (2116 Beatties Ford Road). “I think it needs to be promoted more. People need to know that more.”

Promoting West End businesses is the goal of a new program launched last week by Historic West End Partners, an economic development group.

In addition to business promotion, the program, West End Wednesdays, also provides business training through courses created and taught by Chase Bank.
