TAMPA, Fla. (BLOOM) — Florida may be known as a retirement paradise, but a new report suggests the Sunshine State may not be the best place to grow old, at least not at home.
A new national study from Seniorly ranks Florida dead last in the country for aging in place. The 2025 report analyzed 10 key factors, including home care access, emergency response times, housing costs, and weather safety. Despite its reputation, Florida scored poorly across multiple categories.
More than 4.2 million Americans will turn 65 this year, and nearly 75% say they want to age in place, remaining in their homes rather than moving to assisted living. But experts say where you live can drastically impact how realistic and safe that dream is.
