The Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks show is returning to the East River after briefly relocating to the Hudson River last year, officials said Wednesday.
Fireworks will launch from the Brooklyn Bridge and four barges in the East River near the Seaport District, Mayor Eric Adams and Macy’s said in a release.
The annual pyrotechnics show — a tradition since 1976 — will feature thousands of shells, painting the skyline with vibrant colors, shapes and light.
The spectacle will be visible from Manhattan and Queens, with multiple public viewing spots planned, the release said.
This year’s show coincides with the 400th anniversary of New York City’s founding, Adams said.
