Saying a 2024 law likely violates First Amendment rights, U.S. District Chief Judge Mark E. Walker of the Northern District of Florida granted a preliminary injunction in the case of Computer & Communications Industry Association v. Uthmeier on Tuesday, blocking the enforcement of one of Florida's newest laws.
The law is aimed at restricting social media platforms from allowing Florida children younger than 14 to hold accounts, and requiring parental consent for 14- and 15-year-olds to do so.
