Work is underway in west Charlotte to build a single-family housing community designed to help address the city’s affordability issue.
When completed, Bishop Madison Homes will offer nine homes for sale at prices in the low $300,000s, according to a press release. Its target market will be buyers who earn 80% or less of area media income (AMI), or about $67,850 for a two-person household.
To promote economic mobility, the developer will offer services such as job training, home ownership workshops and financial education, officials said.
The development, with three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom homes, will be located about 10 minutes from uptown Charlotte — within walking distance to the Rosa Parks Transit Center near Beatties Ford Road, a stop on the planned extension of the Gold Li
