RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities in Randolph County responded to a serious emergency call on Monday, June 2, 2025, that was later determined to be a false report, also known as “swatting.”
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in around 2:16 p.m. from a male claiming he had shot his wife and son and had attempted suicide.
Deputies gathered details about the man’s identity and location before responding to the scene in the Helvetia area.
Multiple law enforcement agencies—including deputies from Randolph and Upshur Counties, West Virginia State Police from several counties, and West Virginia Natural Resources Police—were dispatched to the area.
