On Tuesday, Jessie J announced that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer. In a short video posted to Instagram, the singer explained that she was told she had “early breast cancer” just before her single “No Secrets” came out in April.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early,’” she said. “I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period.”

The singer chose to open up about her diagnosis because “selfishly, I do not talk about it enough,” she said. “I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard,” she added, referring to the May release of her latest single , “Living My Best Life,” and a summer-fall schedule packed with performances.
