AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Legislature has adjourned, with hundreds of bills passed and sent to Gov. Greg Abbott's desk.
Now a new countdown starts, this time for the governor. Abbott has until June 22 to veto any bills on his desk. If he does veto a bill, it will not go into effect.
If Abbott leaves a bill unsigned but doesn't veto it, it automatically becomes law. Of course, if he does sign a bill, it also becomes law.
Most new laws will take effect Sept. 1.

House Bill 353
This bill would have increased the penalties for trespassing near schools and day care centers.
It is already a crime to trespass on school property in Texas – an unauthorized person who trespasses on the grounds of any school district commits a Class C misdemeanor. This bill wou
