The Desert Hot Springs City Council voted Tuesday to name longtime deputy city manager Doria Wilms as the new city manager, a few months after her predecessor resigned.
Wilms, a resident of Desert Hot Springs for over 40 years, has been working in the city manager's office since 2016. The city promoted her to assistant city manager in 2019 and then to deputy city manager in 2021.
Her appointment isn't be Wilms' first time stepping into the city manager role. She's been serving in the interim post since Frank Luckino resigned earlier this year to deal with an illness in his family. She was also interim city manager for a few months after Luke Rainey resigned in 2023 .
