LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Police said a person is dead after they were hit by a vehicle in the southwest Las Vegas valley.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision happened just after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4.

The collision occurred between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Blue Diamond Road and Arville Street, police said.

Police said the person hit was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene, and police said impairment is not suspected at the time of publication.

Police asked that the public avoid the area as it is an ongoing investigation.
