HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (WWSB) - For the final time before summer we are honoring a teacher from Manatee County.
Anna Maria Elementary has been through a lot this year and Rachel Mauk was there to lead her students to success.
Suncoast students faced incredible challenges this past year due to the hurricanes.
One of the places most destroyed was Anna Maria Island. The elementary school had to relocate for two months to Stewart Elementary after damage, but this is one tough group of first graders.
Rachel Mauk, first grade teacher says, “They were incredible. I mean from the very first day they were a little nervous of course going into a new school, but once they saw each other they were incredible. The resilience is amazing in children.”
