NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is suing Alina Habba, claiming she and a Homeland Security official “orchestrated” his “false” arrest at an ICE facility in May, according to his lawyer.

Baraka was arrested on May 9 outside Delaney Hall Detention Center. Habba, the interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, accused Baraka of trespassing and ignoring warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to leave the facility.

Baraka has repeatedly denied breaking the law, and the Department of Justice has since dropped the mayor's case.

"He has willingly chosen to disregard the law," Habba wrote in a post to X.
