NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In mid-May, the National Weather Service in Nashville underwent maintenance that caused weather radios to stop receiving alerts for a few days.
Now, the National Weather Service office in Huntsville, Alabama, is going through the same maintenance, which will impact some counties in the News 2 viewing area.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville covers northern Alabama and three counties in southern Middle Tennessee: Lincoln, Franklin, and Moore.
However, NOAA weather radios in the area won't receive alerts from Tuesday, June 3 to Thursday, June 5. According to NWS Huntsville, nothing else will be impacted by the maintenance.
During the three-day span, six radio transmitters will be down, including one in Winchester that covers three counties in Tennessee.
