GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man was taken into federal custody for possessing over 700 grams of drugs and two firearms on Tuesday, June 3, according to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies executed a search warrant back in March that resulted in the seizure of 385 grams of cocaine, 353 grams of fentanyl and two firearms.

Brandon Lamont Bates, 33, was arrested on state charges for possession of controlled substances, narcotics trafficking, and felon in possession of a firearm, according to deputies.

On May 28, Bates received the following federal charges as a result of the search warrant:

Possess with intent to distribute fentanyl

Maintain a residence for the purpose of manufacturing, distributing and using fentanyl

Possess firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
