HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) -- Get ready for a captivating exhibition of paintings from Mexican artist Frida Kahlo whose engrossing works tell a compelling story of her life's struggles in and around Mexico's capital city.

Kahlo is an inspiration on canvas, depicting her journey in Coyocoan, Mexico where she faced many health challenges growing up.

"She's become a symbol for many as someone of tenacity and creativity," explains Sarah Hall with the Washington County Museum. of Fine Arts here. "She had polio as a child and her right leg was sort of stinted because of that and she was in a terrible traffic accident as a teenager."
