UTICA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The lawyers for four Marcy Correction Officers accused of being involved in the deadly beating of inmate Robert Brooks laid out some of their arguments in Oneida County Court on June 4, 2025.

Nicholas Anzalone

Nicholas Anzalone, who is charged with murder, manslaughter, and false instrument, appeared first. Anzalone's defense highlighted jurisdiction and constitutional concerns, specifically about the conflict between all the different agencies involved in this case. Anzalone previously rejected a plea offer of 15-18 years in prison.

Michael Fisher

Michael Fisher is charged with one count of manslaughter. His lawyer asked to dismiss the charge altogether due to "a lack of evidence."
