AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Travis County Sheriff's Office and local agencies are investigating after an inmate at the Travis County Correctional Complex was found “unresponsive in his cell” and died Tuesday evening.

A news release from TCSO said Benjamin Emery McGuire, 54, of Austin, was found unresponsive shortly after he was served dinner. Officials said this happened around 4:17 p.m.

Responding corrections staff conducted CPR immediately, and EMS was called to the scene.

McGuire was pronounced dead at 5:17 p.m., TCSO said.

According to the sheriff's office, McGuire was booked into custody on April 24 and was charged with Injury to a Child/Elderly and Criminal Trespass.
