PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Public School District and the Providence Teachers Union said that they have reached a tentative three-year contract agreement.
The two said that the new agreement would see educators receive wage increases phased over the life of the agreement, as well as “ modestly” increasing employee contributions to healthcare.
The agreement also “ maintains existing hiring processes, class sizes, and caseloads.”
“We continue to make meaningful progress toward our turnaround goals by working in collaboration with our teachers,” Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green said. “This contract gives us stability, maintains high expectations for our educators, and aligns with our mission to ensure all students have access to a world-class education.”
