CHESTER, S.C. (WBTV) - The school bus involved in a deadly crash in Chester County days before Easter had a history of tire issues, according to the bus’ maintenance records.
A school bus from Pine Ridge Middle School in South Carolina reportedly overturned while driving on I-77 in Chester County on April 17, 2025. One 13-year-old student died and others were injured in the crash.
School officials have said the bus overturned after a tire blew, causing the bus to hit a guardrail and flip on its side. There were three adults and 35 students on board at the time.
WBTV requested the bus’ maintenance records on the day of the crash. The Lexington 2 school district, which the middle school is a part of, produced those records more than a month later -- on June 2, 2025.
