ROSEVILLE, Minn. — A man is charged with attempted murder and arson after prosecutors say he intentionally set a fire to a home while his mother and father were still inside.

Andrew Michael Alvarez, 29, is charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson after his mother and father were rescued from a burning home on Monday, June 2.

According to the criminal complaint, at around 11:15 p.m., Alvarez's father called Ramsey County dispatch and told them that he and his wife were trapped in the basement after retreating from flames in the kitchen and main floor.
