Palm Springs Unified School District's school board has selected a superintendent finalist after a nationwide search and review of more than 30 applicants.

PSUSD announced Tuesday its intention to appoint Marcus Funchess, assistant superintendent at San Bernardino City Unified School District, as its next leader following Tony Signoret’s retirement on June 30.

"I am prepared to lead and work with the PSUSD community, as we work together to implement a strategic, future-oriented vision that places student success at the forefront," Funchess said in a press release. "I look forward to engaging with the students, employees, and community members as we begin this crucial work together."
