BOSTON —

The Boston City Council voted 11-2 Wednesday to pass the $1.58 billion Boston Public Schools budget.

One of the two opposing votes came from City Councilor-at-large and longtime BPS teacher Erin Murphy. Murphy says she voted no on the budget because of what she calls problems with Transdev North America, a school bus company contracted by BPS.

Murphy declined to allocate around $180 million toward school transportation until a representative from the bus company came before the city council.

Murphy is demanding answers after video from an incident in December showed a driver running over an 8-year-old child, leaving him with a broken femur and months of treatment.
