Mayor Adams is poised to seek a 15 mph speed limit on e-bikes citywide and could announce the restriction as early as Friday amid growing concern over safety on the city’s streets, the Daily News has learned.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the limit would also apply to traditional, pedal powered bicycles — which have become ensnared in the city’s recent e-bike crackdowns .

According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, an end-of-week announcement of a bicycle speed limit has been discussed in meetings with the mayor’s senior staff. Spokespeople for Adams’ office did not immediately return requests for comment on Wednesday afternoon.

The expected move from Adams comes as his administration has made cracking down on bicycle enforcement a priority.
