Days after Derek Carr's retirement from the NFL became official, the former Saints quarterback opened up about why he decided not to stick around another season with the New Orleans Saints despite a shoulder injury.
Carr, 34, left the team in the best way he felt possible af ter opting not to get surgery .
"I wouldn’t have been able to play if I had the surgery," Carr said to Front Office Sports . "And then if I tried to play with it, I wasn’t near 100%, and so that doesn’t help them, either."
Carr announced his plan on May 10.
"I just felt like it was the right thing to do for myself and for the team," Carr said.
