BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - North Dakota has a new law that will make it harder for children to access porn online.
Access to the internet is basically open to anyone who knows how to work a computer, and that includes savvy teenagers. The National Library of Medicine says 42% of youth between the ages of 10 and 17 have reported viewing online pornography.
House Bill 1561 requires websites with pornographic content in North Dakota to have an age verification system.
Websites will have to come up with a way to verify a user’s age. One example might require a user to upload a legal ID before seeing the content.
Websites that do not comply with the new law can be sued by families and guardians of children who accessed them.
